Zoo Themed Wedding That Will Wow
I am a strong believer that you can take any theme and turn it into a classy wedding theme. It just takes time, passion and a little bit of creativity. If you have been reading my blog long you are well aware by now that I LOVE themed weddings. I love out the box fun wedding ideas. I also love animals. So I have combined two of my favorite things into one wonderfully amazing wedding theme.
Location – ALWAYS start with these three things when planning your wedding. Budget, Location and Date. Your location. Your location will be the biggest impression of your theme try reserving your venue at an aquarium, zoo or conservatory. It will also make for memorable wedding photos.
Color Palette – You don’t have to go with an outrageous color palette in order to carry out your wedding theme. The details, location and flowers can say it all. So spare your wedding party from having to buy a dress they really truly will never wear again. Here are a few subtle color schemes that will also vibe with your theme.
The Centerpieces- The centerpieces are actually my favorite part of a wedding. I find they are a wonderful way for the bride and groom to not only express their theme but also their personality. There are endless possibilities and very little rules to designing your centerpiece. The one rule I like to stick with is to either have a tall or short centerpiece. That way your guests can easily converse with one another at the table.
The Flowers -When having a themed wedding flowers can be tricky. Try to focus more on the color and the arrangement. The rest will fall into place.
The Dress – I know I previously mentioned not going crazy incorporating your dress in with your wedding theme. But who says you can’t have a second, more eccentric dress for the reception.
Accessories – I love the little touches. It allows you to express yourselves as individuals as well as a couple. Add a small touch of animal print with a shawl or some sassy zebra print shoes. This is also a great way to provide the wedding party with a way to incorporate their own touches into the wedding. Thinking about giving guidelines for shoes to the bridesmaids so you end up with a range of different animal patterns.
The Details – There are so many ways to carry out your theme with details. Whether it be your escort cards, drink stirrer, decorations through the venue, favors and more. The world is full of ideas and opportunities to make it your own.
The Stationary – The invitation are the first impression of your wedding that your guest will get it also an opportunity to for them to get a sense of what’s ahead. So you should have your theme in mind before you send out any invitations. Try using matching typography and colors to pull the invitations into the wedding day through the programs, menu cards and escort cards.
The Cake – Don’t forget about the cake! It the perfect opportunity to add colorful flowers and designs that carry your theme till the last bite.
A Very Frozen Themed Wedding
Like everyone else in the entire world, I too fell in love with the movie Frozen. Since winter can be difficult to time to incorporate a fun theme theme I was inspired to create a Frozen themed wedding.
Ceremony – The easiest way to cut your budget but still wow your guests is to pick the correct venue for your theme. Pick a location that can help carry your theme. Or have your wedding outside, nothing more beautiful then fresh snow. But be sure to keep your guests comfort in mind as well by providing outdoor heaters and warning them to bring warm attire.
Reception Decor – Don’t try to fit the season. Use it to your advantage. Have an “Ice Bar” for your guest to enjoy the outdoors along with adding to your frozen theme. Include decorative ice sculptures, white chandeliers and blue, purple and teal hues to portray a cool atmosphere.
Shoes – Colored wedding shoes are all the rage right now. Go will a cool icy color to give the appearance of ice slippers.
Flowers – White and blue flowers are a clear choice but they can also limit your color palette and variety. Add some bright purples, fuchsia and deep blues to the mix to add to your wintery look with a little more color from Frozen.
Invitation- If you are planning a themed wedding its important to incorporate your theme in your invitations. It will be your guests first glimpse into what to expect on your wedding day. So give them a sneak peek into your Frozen themed weddings with a subtle wintery invitation. Or go full blast with Elsa and Ana included!
With this Ring… – If you want to not only carry out the frozen theme through your wedding but into your lives together as husband and wife. Consider one of these Disney inspired wedding rings brought to you by www.gemvara.com
Centerpieces – Of all the wedding details the centerpieces are my favorite. They open so many possibilities and allow your creativity to really explode. Its also a great way to stand out. Can’t decide on one look? Switch it up and have alternating arrangements throughout the ball room. Just make sure the arrangements don’t clash with one another.
Cake – An all white cake is a classic. With this Frozen theme it fits right in. Want to really surprise your guests? Splurge for a cake made of ice…. with cupcake deserts to sooth your guests sweet tooth.
Drinks and Specialties – As more couples are wanting their wedding to really stand out its becoming more common to include specialty items for your guest. Such as a snow cone machine, decadent sorbet or specialty cocktails.
Dresses – There are no rules anymore. A bride doesn’t have to wear white, bridesmaids can wear white and matching isn’t required.
Photos – Don’t forget to take advantage of the natural additions to your theme, especially if you are getting married in the heart of winter.

Color Inspiration: Subtle Theme
I love themed weddings. If you read this blog on a regular basis you have probably caught a few ideas for unique themes like a Batman Themed Wedding, Presidential Themed Wedding, Harry Potter Themed Wedding, Halloween Themed Wedding and Twilight Themed Wedding But maybe those extremes are not for you. If you are looking for a more subtle theme to include on your wedding day her are some classic ideas to get you started.
Fairy Tale Wedding
Every little girl dreams of her fairy tale wedding as a child but what if as an adult you can still make that dream come true.
Batman Themed Wedding
If you love planning events like I do, then you will appreciate the details of a classy themed Batman wedding. If you and your bride/husband-to-be is a comic book fanatic and the idea of throwing a Batman themed wedding has you over the moon then here are some great ideas for having your own Batman themed wedding with class.
Location: One of the biggest ways to incorporate your theme is with location. Whether its a casual barn yard wedding or a trendy Manhattan black tie event, the location is the first glimpse into your wedding. Here are a few suggestions: An old brick mansion, a rooftop location overlooking the city or a dimly lite restaurant or hotel.
Color Scheme: Color scheme says a lot. Next to location it is the biggest signifier of the wedding theme. Whether you have bright and fun or romantic and soft, your color choices say it all. For a Batman theme I think you have a few options to choose from. Black & yellow, Black and gold or Black and tan. Here are an examples to help you envision the color palette.
There are a few ways you can emphasize your color scheme. The first is through the bridesmaid dresses. Keep in mind, no one says you have to have a traditional bridesmaid dress, no taffeta and chiffon necessary. So be creative!
Or maybe you want a more traditional approach with your bridesmaids and prefer to go all out with the groomsmen attire.
Flowers: Every wedding I have been to the flowers have been one of the main focus points. It doesn’t matter if you choose a bouquet of romantic peonies or a subtle bouquet of greenery. Its one of the elements of a wedding that people notice. Here is an opportunity to stand out and be original. Try a unique or bright color combo. Incorporate feathers, sunflowers or anemone. Or go for a more traditional route, you can find roses, tulips and carnations in almost any color.
The Cake: You can always go the traditional route or continue your theme all the way through the desert.
The little things: The details for me are my favorite part. I love to include special little touches to events and parties. Here are a few ways you can make you theme special to your guest and wedding party.
The transportation: You can only justify a ride like this once in your life. Why not let it be your wedding day.
Wow them! These ideas will definitely leave a lasting impression on your guests.
Presidential Themed Wedding
Again, I love themed parties. So here is inspiration for the President’s Day lovers out there. As I’ve said before you can have any kind of themed wedding in a classy way with a little bit of thought, planning and preparation. You don’t have to go overboard on the theme for people to get the connection. In fact DON’T go overboard. Themed weddings are fun and memorable but only if they fit the couples personalities. Don’t let the theme overpower the reason for the celebration. Enjoy the inspiration for a Presidential themed wedding.
First Step: Start with the color scheme. Clearly red ,white and blue is the right choice. But there are so many shades to choose from!
Choose the right location: Nothing is more presidential then a capital building. Most historical building will let you take your bridal party there for pictures. Make sure to call ahead!! Do this at least a couple months before the wedding so you can nail down your schedule.
Get creative with desert. Desert bars are the new trend. What is more all American then apple pie??
The easiest way to make a theme statement is with the bridesmaids. Allow the bridesmaids to pick the dress and give them a color. Or mix and match colors.
Have fun! Let your true personalities show.
Accessorize. The little things are the special things that you add to the wedding.
Get creative!
Bring your ideas to your florist and tell them your vision. You will be surprised what ideas they may have.
End with a bang. Sparklers are the new rice. Or go even further by having a special surprise for your guests – FIREWORKS!
